From 0f545e6b9670fd780579445ff68dba95a8e08545 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Erik Johnston Date: Tue, 8 Sep 2020 15:00:17 +0100 Subject: Clean up types for PaginationConfig (#8250) This removes `SourcePaginationConfig` and `get_pagination_rows`. The reasoning behind this is that these generic classes/functions erased the types of the IDs it used (i.e. instead of passing around `StreamToken` it'd pass in e.g. `token.room_key`, which don't have uniform types). --- synapse/notifier.py | 5 +++-- 1 file changed, 3 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) (limited to 'synapse/notifier.py') diff --git a/synapse/notifier.py b/synapse/notifier.py index b7f4041306..71f2370874 100644 --- a/synapse/notifier.py +++ b/synapse/notifier.py @@ -432,8 +432,9 @@ class Notifier: If explicit_room_id is set, that room will be polled for events only if it is world readable or the user has joined the room. This is to maintain the distinction between the position of an item in the stream (i.e. event A has stream ID 513) and a token that can be used to partition the stream (i.e. give me all events after stream ID 352). This distinction becomes important when the tokens are more complicated than a single number, which they will be once we start tracking the position of multiple writers in the tokens. The valid operations here are: 1. Is a position before or after a token 2. Fetching all events between two tokens 3. Merging multiple tokens to get the "max", i.e. `C = max(A, B)` means that for all positions P where P is before A *or* before B, then P is before C. Future PR will change the token type to a dedicated type. --- changelog.d/8288.misc | 1 + synapse/handlers/federation.py | 3 -- synapse/handlers/message.py | 4 --- synapse/notifier.py | 62 ++++++++++++++++++++++++--------------- synapse/push/pusherpool.py | 2 +- synapse/replication/tcp/client.py | 9 ++---- 6 files changed, 44 insertions(+), 37 deletions(-) create mode 100644 changelog.d/8288.misc (limited to 'synapse/notifier.py') diff --git a/changelog.d/8288.misc b/changelog.d/8288.misc new file mode 100644 index 0000000000..c08a53a5ee --- /dev/null +++ b/changelog.d/8288.misc @@ -0,0 +1 @@ +Refactor notifier code to correctly use the max event stream position. diff --git a/synapse/handlers/federation.py b/synapse/handlers/federation.py index be9b0701a0..c195eba830 100644 --- a/synapse/handlers/federation.py +++ b/synapse/handlers/federation.py @@ -128,7 +128,6 @@ class FederationHandler(BaseHandler): self.keyring = hs.get_keyring() self.action_generator = hs.get_action_generator() self.is_mine_id = hs.is_mine_id - The valid operations are then: 1. did a position happen before or after a token; 2. get all events that happened before or after a token; and 3. get all events between two tokens.
